The goal of this program is to allow a significant
improvement in performance by providing a facility that
will fulfill the team’s current need for equipment
storage, adequate winter training space, and office space
before the start of the 2009-2010 season.
A boathouse is the most important physical representation
of a program’s potential for success. Due to the
glaring need, this program has a completion goal set for
the summer of 2009 and a fundraising goal of $2 million.
The boathouse program has the potential to make the most
immediate impact on the performance of the University of
Colorado Rowing Team. This facility will allow equipment to
last longer in competitive condition by shielding it from
the elements when not in use. It will provide the team with
the ability to train as a team at a time that works for the
athletes. In addition, it will give coaches the office
space they require in order to work most effectively.
As Friends of Colorado Crew puts together a preliminary
plan for what the building will look like, we will be
offering naming rights for the boathouse as well as its
parts. Check back to see our progress.
Update 9/06: Friends of Colorado Crew has
hired Kristian Howell ('04) to conduct the primary design
for the facility. The group was extremely pleased to hire
both a former CU rower and extremely talented architect.
Initial plans should be complete by late November.
